Is, philosophy: the word “is” has different functions like expressing an identity e.g. A is B, attributing a property e.g. the sky is blue or being contained in a set e.g. "Heaven" is a concept. These functions must not be confused. See also Copula, Predication, Equality, Equality sign, Equations.

1. existence,

3. Identity.

Is/Heidegger/Tugendhat: "The sky is blue" (Example from Heidegger).
To which being refers "is"? To the sky or to what is meant by "blue"?
Therefore one should omit the orientation on the beings.
